Code & Go Activity Eleven

This class will cover the following topics:

  • Artistic design
  • Creativity
  • Teamwork
  • Programming

Materials needed:

  • Mural paper
  • Scratch paper
  • Crayons, watercolor paint and brushes or magic markers
  • Colby robot

Once the class understands the design process of creating a maze they can create a replica of their camp on mural paper.  Take a walk around your camp before they begin.  Explain the location of the main features of camp, such as the main office, pools, lake, athletic fields etc.  Have them do a rough draft on their scratch paper first and assist them with the location of the features they are using.  Once that is complete they can create their final camp maze on their mural paper using the art medium that you offer them.  Once their maze is completed they will program their mouse robot to successfully travel through their camp maze.

Have the different pairs of children rotate around the different camp mazes and see if they can program their mouse robot to successfully travel through each maze.  The camp mazes should be displayed for all to see.
