Code & Go Activity Eight
This class will cover the following topics:
- Practice building mazes
- Program Colby to travel through a maze
Materials needed:
- Colby robot
- Green Maze grids
- Maze Cards 7 – 12 & 13 – 20
- Purple maze walls
- Orange tunnels
- Yellow cheese
Have the different pairs of students work on assembling their mazes following the cards they are given. The maze cards are numbered in sequential order based on degree of difficulty. Have each pair of children program their mouse robot to travel through each maze that is assembled. Use maze cards 7- 12 on one day and maze cards 13 – 20 on the next day. The children are developing stronger programming skills, getting practice in following directions and building self-confidence in their ability to work with a robot. At this point they should try to program their mouse robot without using the program cards. They will learn to count the number of maze grids in the section of maze they are working on and program their mouse robot accordingly with the proper number of presses of the command needed to make their mouse robot move.
