What can we as engineers make with everyday materials?
Let’s create a fun water slide for a Lego Mini-Figure!
By the end of this activity, and some parental assistance, you will have a fun activity for even the smallest figures in your collection!
In this activity, you will construct a basic water slide with household materials. Once your slide is built, place it in the sink or container that can hold water and see if your slide can hold water. Take a cup of water and pour it at the top of your slide and see where the water travels.
Experiment by making different lengths and shaped slides where the water can travel a longer distance.
What other materials can you use to make a water slide? Can it hold water?
- Construction Paper
- Toilet paper and/or Paper towel rolls
- Aluminum foil
- Paper plate/bowl
- Small Mini-Figure
Sculpt a foil sheet into a half tube section
Tape a piece of Toilet paper roll tube to the foil piece
Tape trimmed straw sections to the sides of the slide
Tape the bottom of the tube and straws to build surface (could be cardboard sheet)
Build a straw ladder!
